Pamela has been qualified for 33 years with the IDTA and is examiner with the South African Dance Foundation and is the Technical Chairman of Dance in South Africa. Pamela has trained over 2000 dancers to date with 100% pass rate. Pamela has worked with many top professional dancers and have trained the South African Reigning Ballroom and Latin Champions. Pamela is a Chairman of Adjudicators / Championship Adjudicators and a lecturer in the Technique of Ballroom and Latin Dance.

Ballroom

Candidates will be required to demonstrate with a partner to music, the four standard, Ballroom dances ie, Waltz, Quickstep, Tango, Foxtrot to a professional standard appropriate to the grade of examination being taken.The majority of the figures used should be selected from those included in the Associate syllabus (female candidates will be required to dance as lady with a partner, male candidates will be required to demonstrate as man with a female partner).Candidates will be required to dance solo to music, whilst giving the count, an amalgamation of three figures in two dances selected by the examiner from the Associate syllabus.
Candidates will be required to have a thorough knowledge of the Student and Associate syllabus. Candidates will be examined on their knowledge of the figures in the syllabus and will be required to show their ability to apply the following principles in respect of each dance and figure as man and Lady.Hold, Balance, Definitions of Technical terms, Counting in slows and quicks, Counting in Beats and Bars, Rise and Fall, Alignments, Directions, Positions of the feet, CBM, CBMP, Sway, Amount of Turn, Footwork, Amalgamations, Time Signature, Tempo.Associate Examination 75minsModules can be taken in each dance core Waltz / tango / foxtrot/ QuickstepFurther Professional examinations can be gained Licentiate and Fellowship Qualifications

Candidates should be able to explain the chart headings and the following terms and fundamental principals: Time Signature, Tempo, Rhythm, Inherent Amounts of Turn, Checked forward walks, Delayed Walks, Forward Walk Turning, Backward Walk turning, Latin Cross, Cucaracha, Poise, and the basic positions used in the Associate syllabus.Candidates should be to dance the syllabus figures solo, whilst giving the Timing or Beat Values of each step.Timing or beat values, foot positions, Footwork, Body Turn, Action used, Shaping, Precedes and follows, and where applicable Samba Bounce Action, Pelvic Action (as used in Promenade Samba Walks) Alignments and Sway for all Syllabus figures (Where applicable). Associate Examination 75minsModules can be taken in each dance core Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Jive & Paso Doble.Further Professional examinations can be gained Licentiate and Fellowship Qualifications.

Freestyle - Streetdance

Candidates will demonstrate their routines to music in various tempi including starting a class to music. Candidates can demonstrate using Freestyle or Street dance routines.Correct presentation is crucial. It will show whether the candidate knows and understands the technique or has merely learned it verbatim. Teaching Ability will be marked separately and will affect the result of the examination.During the course of the examination the candidates ability to teach will be assessed.
Candidates must present a portfolio from Student through to fellowship to the Examiner which gives a brief resume of their progress and training and how long their training has lasted.The portfolio may contain scripts of the dances used in the demonstration section and a breakdown of their class structureAssociate Examination 75 minsProfessional examinations can be gained Licentiate and Fellowship Qualifications
